Personal branding is going to be huge in 2022! It’s gained major significance in the last few years, and in 2022 we’ll be encouraging all our clients (and our team!) to get invested in their personal branding.

What exactly is personal branding?🤔

We’re glad you asked!

In a nutshell, personal branding is how you market yourself: how you showcase your skills and personality to the world.

Not only does your personal brand include how you present yourself offline -  it’s in your social posts, your LinkedIn profile, your blog content, your podcast, or your YouTube channel; essentially anywhere that folks can find you!

It’s not just us weighing in on this juicy subject: Forbes, Reed, the Harvard Business Review, and many more folks are sharing the importance of establishing your brand right now.

We’ve been sharing tips on our LinkedIn and Instagram too if you’re not following us yet!

But why does personal branding matter so much?

Don’t sweat, pet, we’ve got the answers for you today!

A strong personal brand makes you more memorable.

Trying to stand out from the crowd? It’s time to invest in your personal brand, big time. Long gone are the days when cookie-cutter resumés got you through the door! Now, employers and clients are presented with slick branding on a daily. Whether we’re aware of it or not, we have all come to expect a much higher standard of marketing today. That now includes high-quality content from the individuals we come across, too.

In saturated markets, personal brands bring some much-needed personality, particularly within larger companies.  Over on LinkedIn, we recently shared how company social media pages often have 10X  fewer followers than the profiles of that companies’ employees… how amazing is that?!

People are far more inclined to engage with folks who have something interesting and valuable to say.

Your personal brand can build credibility

We like people like us! When we see someone who has a similar story to our own, a familiar worldview, or shared interests, we feel an implicit trust.  “If they have the same values I do, they must work how I work too!” Most of us aren’t even aware that we do this but when developing your personal brand,  it can be used to our advantage.

Having a robust online presence also helps with social proof. Solid social platforms or a well-created personal website are perfect ways to show clients, peers, future employers that we are qualified and capable.

Personal branding matters because it helps people connect with you from afar

So many of us are meeting online nowadays! The world has gone remote, especially in the last couple of years. Rightly or wrongly - your online presence matters more than ever. More and more of us want to feel a real connection with someone before we speak to them, especially before we hire them.

In an ideal world, you want your personality to shine through in your content so that when people do eventually engage with you, they feel like the awkward stage is behind them. They know your sense of humour, they can tell your level of experience, and they know what you look like. You will feel familiar with them, which is essential.

Hope that’s helpful folks!😀
